Bruce Jackson, a resident in a nursing home, finds purpose and life in his old age by creating a fantasy world of danger and adventure; pretending that he is trapped in a POW camp instead of the nursing home. While he and his friends relish in their glory days and sneak out past the guards and nurses, one of the other residents, Peters Outt, doesn't play along with the daring universe. Instead, he condones the immature idea and all he wants is for Bruce to stop leaving him behind for more daring outings. When he finds that Bruce is too busy for him, Peters alerts the nurses to the residents behavior and escapes and therefore traps the old men in the home for good. At first enjoying the time he now has with Bruce, Peters sees that what he really has done is destroy the best thing in the home: hope and life. The two therefore must find a way to work together to get back the purpose they each want in their lives as they can see the end of their days approaching. Expected rating: PG Similar film tones: Toy Story, Secondhand Lions, Cocoon Compensation is Credit, Meals, and a Copy. |
